Welcome!

Hi! My name is Tara Star and I’m an experienced tutor who works with students in kindergarten through 8th grade.

I teach my students based on their needs and treat each student like an individual: no one-size-fits-all lesson plans. I love getting to know my students and helping them accomplish their goals in a way that makes sense for them. I’ll work with you to create curriculum that fits you and your child’s unique needs and circumstances. Let’s create a game plan together!

I have a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Irvine in History. I have completed a year of postgraduate study in Early Childhood Education as well as coursework in methods for teaching English as a second language. I have been working full-time as a tutor for 7 years. Education is my passion, but I also enjoy singing, writing songs, and creating visual art, all of which I love to use with my students while teaching.

The learning environment has changed and it has left many kids feeling disconnected and unsteady. A tutor can be a calming influence, someone who can help them tackle new challenges and make sure they don’t fall behind.

I meet with my students in person in South Orange County and also meet with students on Zoom from all over California. I have developed strategies to create relationships with my students, keep them focused and make our time truly productive, whether in person or in an online environment.
